Mext is the new company within the Mota-Engil Group, dedicated to the group’s transformation, innovation, incubation, and investments. The brand and visual identity were developed by the Born agency.
“The identity project began with the creation of the name, which combines the initials of the group with the word ‘Next,’ followed by the development of the visual identity,” explains the agency. “We started with structural elements of the Mota-Engil brand, such as shapes and colors, and added new elements symbolizing key concepts like future, transformation, diversity, and participation,” says Duarte Vilaça, Chief Creative Officer of Born, as quoted in a press release.
The company’s tagline, “Engineering Ideas,” aims to bridge the group’s past and future in the construction sector. The two dots following the name “Mext” were inspired by the group’s symbol and serve as “an invitation to new ideas,” the press note explains. It also highlights that Mota-Engil’s colors were “refreshed” with the addition of purple and green. The communication concept is expressed through the hashtag #whatsmext?
“It is a sign of great vitality for the Group, in a context where most economic players have begun reflecting on the impacts and transformations brought about by global events in recent years,” adds Duarte Vilaça.
“#whatsmext? represents more than just a project. It’s an attitude and a cultural shift based on an open mindset and a willingness to look at the world to find ways to become holistically better. Mext, as a company, will be the vehicle to advance this purpose, supporting the development of new opportunities that are already being identified,” adds Sílvia Mota, CEO of Mext.
